I enjoyed a great weekend with my family and with our church family:

took the family to watch Morgantown High destroy Buckhannon in football Friday night. Final score: 60-7. It looks like Morgantown is back, and a huge game looms against undefeated University High in late October.

enjoyed a fun day at the Buckwheat Festival. Ate some good buckwheat cakes and sausage, and had a good time looking at the prize Preston Co livestock and watching the Parade. We then had neighbors and friends over to watch a lackluster WVU victory.

great day at StoneBridge, with several new guests and watching God do amazing things in several individual’s lives. Ministry is fun again.

I enjoyed heading to Washington PA with Jason to visit LifePoint for first time. It was a blessing to meet the LifePoint crew and worship with them. Aaron is doing a great job and I look forward to greater things for LifePoint. Topped off the evening with a Guacamole Bacon Burger at Red Robin. Mmmm good.

I’m anticipating a two day trip to the Big Apple in mid October with some others from the CityReach board. I’ve secured some studio tickets to see Good Morning America and we have some plans to see the main sights in the city, including: Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Times Square, and the Empire State Building.

If anyone has some hot NYC tips for restaurants, or cool things to do, let me know.

We had a great small group last night at our home. Our leader Manny Johnson is guiding us thru the book of Exodus, which has been a great study so far. He is also challenging us with scripture memory each week, plus memorizing the books of the Bible in order. Everyone is enjoying the challenge of memorizing Scripture together and memorizing the books of the Bible.

I think Scripture memory is often a lost discipline among Christians today, including myself. Growing up in a good church, I was challenged to memorize much Scripture thru Sunday School and Bible clubs, but it seems that adults can tend to lose the discipline of scripture memorization. So it has been very refreshing for all of us.

Our groups are off to a great start, and they are much more blended than in the past. College students, families, singles, all doing group life together, which is good.

We had a great staff meeting on Tuesday, making plans for our 5th Anniversary Bash on November 2nd. Yes, StoneBridge turns 5 on November 2nd. It’s hard to believe that the time has passed so quickly.

We are looking forward to celebrating the many lives that have been radically saved and changed by God working thru the people of StoneBridge. We are planning a time of celebration and a catered lunch following the service on the 2nd.
There is much happening around StoneBridge this month that evidences God’s work in our lives. We are seeing some real lifechange take place. People are battling addictions and really trying to live for the Lord.

We had one couple come back to church Sunday who are both battling drug and alcohol addictions and have attended every small group we offer so far this week. StoneBridgers have really shown great kindness, donating gas, groceries, and inviting the couple for meals in their homes.

Seeing Christianity lived out like this really fires me up!
